About this great Blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre, Viognier The grapes for this blend of Shiraz, Mourvèdre and Viognier are sourced from 3 prime vineyards and hand harvested, gently crushed and fermented before maturation in small French oak barrels. The wine shows a mosaic of black and red berry aromas layered with dark chocolate, winter spice, rose and violet facets following through to an intensely fruited palate that is both powerful yet graceful.

The grapes for this distinctive Chenin Blanc are hand-picked from characterful and genuinely unique old bush vines specifically blended from Cape Town. It features vibrant tropical fruit flavours with hints of honey and oak spice on the finish. The Bernard Series was named after Bernard Podlashuk, visionary co-founder of the Bellingham brand and maverick winemaker. Never quite satisfied to be just ordinary, he is recognised for his daring vision, sheer audacity and unabated drive that helped place South African wine on the map. The legend of his tenacity and innovative flair lives on through the Bernard Series, Bellingham’s premium range of handcrafted wines. In the Vineyard: Planted in 1983, this cooler climate Wine of Origin: Cape Town is a rare find Chenin Blanc. One of the very first old vine focused wines, this Single vineyard is unirrigated and rich with minerality. It boasts great water holding capacity and carries a low yield on the East facing slope with different clones and being exposed to cool afternoon sea breezes from Table Bay and False Bay. In the Cellar: Harvested at two ripening levels to add complexity, the grapes are hand picked with a larger portion being 100% naturally fermented in barrel and Foudre which adds freshness to the wine. The barrels and Foudre are individually cooled to the optimum fermentation temperature. This allows for slower and longer fermentation that combined with the cooler climate enhances the fruit expression in the wine and good integration between the wine and oak. After fermentation the wine is left on its lees and botonnaged monthly until blending and bottling. Tasting Notes: Colour: Yellow with green tint. Nose: Straw, pineapple, Stone fruit, green apple, ripe lime, tropical fruit, oak spice. Palate: Fresh, mineral, good texture, length, fruit dense finish subtle oak integration. Stone fruit on the palate, melon, peach, green apple.

Blend van Grenache Blanc en Viognier - superblend Made from Coastal Paarl Region grapes, whole-bunch pressed for well-defined flavour extraction. The wine shows vibrant green apple, fleshy peach and stone fruit, with citrus blossom and subtle spice notes. A beautiful match for a wide range of cuisines. The Bernard Series was named after Bernard Podlashuk, visionary co-founder of the Bellingham brand and maverick winemaker. Never quite satisfied to be just ordinary, he is recognised for his daring vision, sheer audacity and unabated drive that helped place South African wine on the map. The legend of his tenacity and innovative flair lives on through the Bernard series, Bellingham’s premium range of hand-crafted wines. The Grenache vineyard is located in the Voor Paardeberg ward near Paarl. Vineyard management is aimed at producing concentrated, perfectly ripe fruit and this includes very strict crop thinning. The Viognier grapes are specially selected for the good minerality and freshness they bring to the blend. Whole-bunch pressed to respect the delicate skin and capture the best quality juice with purity of fruit, good minerality and acidity. The Grenache was fermented in 20% new, 40% second fill and 40% third-fill balance in unwooded barrels for 5 months, with lees contact. Both components were wild fermented. Finally the wine is blended with tank-fermented Viognier and prepared for bottling. Richly textured and opulent with superb integration between the fresh green apple, fleshy peach and stone fruit from Grenache and citrus blossom, pear drop and intriguing spice from Viognier. A very well balanced and bold wine with multi-layered intricacy and richness that lends itself to best enjoyment with meals like veal Parmigiano, softshell crab with beurre blanc or roast quail with nut stuffing.

This yields liberal black cherry, ripe mulberry and raspberry confit fruit concentration brushed with floral notes and enhanced by maturation in French oak for 18 months.

Een mooie heldere strogele wijn met een fractie lichtgroen. Brede en zeer verfijnde aromastructuur met tonen van gekonfijt fruit, perzik, lychee en specerij met subtiele houttonen. Delicate smaak die indrukwekkend en lang uitwaaiert; sappig, vol en heerlijk fris. De handgeplukte Viognier-druiven zijn afkomstig uit een jonge wijngaard in de zone Agter-Paarl, aan de voet van de Perdeberg. De wijnstokken staan in een glooiend landschap met een ondergrond van verweerd graniet. De druiven worden handmatig en in optimale conditie geoogst, waarna het sap gist in vaten van Frans eikenhout. Een deel van de wijn blijft vervolgens zeven maanden in contact met het gistdepot.
